Depending on how confident and fit a cyclist you are, there are a range of destinations that can be accessed by bike from The Grange.
Wakefield city centre can be reached in less than 15-minutes and offers a wide range of shops, restaurants, and other facilities; including Trinity Walk shopping centre. A journey to either of the train stations in Wakefield takes a similar time. When you consider the time it can take to park, that is probably quicker than a journey by car!
There are also a number of designated cycle routes within the vicinity of your new home, making a journey by bike even more attractive! Neil Fox Way, the road running through the City Fields development, has a segregated cycleway along the eastern side of the carriageway, providing a direct route between Doncaster Road and Stanley, as well as Pinderfields Hospital.
Further cycle routes are located just east of The Grange, along the River Calder / The Aire and Calder Navigation. You can access National Cycle Network (NCN) 7, and the Wonders of Wakefield (WOW) route (which follow the same path in the vicinity of the site). A range of destinations can be accessed along these routes, including Stanley Ferry, Wakefield city centre, Walton, Crofton and Leeds. Both of these routes are also traffic-free in the vicinity of your new home.
Both the WOW route and NCN route are great for short trips, as well as longer, more leisurely cycle rides. There are further leisure cycle routes located along the eastern bank of the River Calder, which you can access via the segregated cycleways along Neil Fox Way.
